Clinical Study in Baltimore - Compensation up to $2,500
Who can participate? Healthy adults 18 years or older.
What is the purpose of the study? The goal of this research study is to test a new device to see if it can block the body’s absorption of sugar, which may help promote weight loss. The device (called GSEL) is a specially-designed liner that is placed in the small intestine without any incisions, using flexible tube called an endoscope. The GSEL device is intended to work as a barrier in the small intestine to prevent sugar from being absorbed by the body.
How long does the study last? The study lasts about 10 days, and involves a 2-night hospital stay and 2 upper endoscopy procedures.
Where? The study is being conducted at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.
Is there any cost to me? No, if you qualify and chose to join the study, you will receive all study-related care at no cost.
Will I be compensated for my participation? Yes, participants will receive up to $2,500 for completing the study ($500 for the initial screening visit, $1,500 for the 2-night hospital stay, and $500 for a final follow-up visit 7 days later).
